Letters from our Sisters...
We all come into challenging times in our lives. I have come to the realization of mine: struggling with the disease of obesity. For me, the “cure” is more than eating less and exercising more – it is the need to move into a consistent healthy lifestyle. Therefore, I will be attending a residential weight-loss program during the Fall months. The Religious Education Program will continue under the guidance of
Ms. Martha de la Fuente (acting DRE), Ms. Melanie Tiplady (our Religious Education Secretary), Mrs. Pat Hayes and Mrs. Grace Hodge (retired educators and consultants to our program). The SEEDS Program will continue under the direction of Letty Bartoszek.
Thank you for your support and prayers,
Sr. Christina Dougherty
I am fully supportive of Sr. Christina’s decision to take a leave of absence for health reasons. I have told her that not only will we will pray for her – which is most important - but that we await her return so that she may continue her excellent leadership of our Religious Education program. Like all of you, I will miss her cheerful presence these next few months and I eagerly await her return.
Sr, Christina, God Bless and protect you these coming months.

After personal prayer, discernment, and consultation with the Leadership Team of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, I am writing to share with you that I will be leaving my ministry here at Holy Family Parish as of this September. I have truly loved the varied aspects of parish ministry with all of you for the past (almost) ten years! I cherish the gift of your love, friendship, and support through the years and sharing the joy of your children and teens.
I now feel called, however, to deepen my own spirituality and use my gifts to further assist others in their call to prayer and spiritual development. I am not moving to another mission or location. I will continue to live nearby at the Wartburg where several of my Dominican Sisters live in various levels of care. I will be participating in a Contemplative Formation Program at Mariandale Center in Ossining which is sponsored by our Dominican Sisters of Hope and where I have led retreats and programs in the past. I will also be involved in collaborative efforts to explore and share our Dominican Charism with our Sisters and people like you! And yes, I will be inviting you to “come and see”.
Most of all, I want to thank you for the privilege of journeying with you in prayer, faith sharing, family and parish celebrations, and our personal losses. All of this has bonded us in Christ’s love. Know that I will hold you in my heart, continue to pray for you, and promise to come back to visit often. God Bless You! Keep in touch!
With love and Hope,
Sister Connie Koch, O.P.
I wish to express my gratitude to Sr. Connie for her 10 years of ministry here at Holy Family and for her many years of ministry throught the Archdiocese of New York. As a young sister, Sr. Connie began her mission of Hope living in the convent at Holy Family so it seems appropriate that she concludes her parish ministry here.
My prayers and best wishes are extended to Sr. Connie and I assured her of the entire Parish’s prayerful support as she begins this new and exciting stage of her life.
In September, we will have a Parish farewell for Sr. Connie so that each of you may thank her personally.
